Herd Health

When cattle are mindfully managed, their health is naturally supported. We do give calfhood vaccines and use parasite control because animal welfare is our number one priority. In a subtropical environment, cattle would struggle to remain healthy without these. However, our robust record-keeping allows us to track all antibiotics, immunizations, and other pharmaceutical uses for individual animals. We adhere to all withdrawal recommendations and follow all Beef Quality Assurance practices.

Genetics

Our cattle herd is composed of Akaushi, Wagyu and Angus-cross based genetics. These breeds were selected for their carcass quality and ability to perform in the Florida Panhandle. All cattle are selected for their sustainable production traits, ability to thrive in our environment, and
their carcass quality-- Combined this creates a quality eating experience with a minimal footprint!

Nutrition

The cattle spend their life in a pasture-based program. Our goal is to harness the natural growing seasons in our area. We plant seasonal forages to supplement the pasture grasses and support optimal health and performance of the herd. When there are nutritional gaps in the forage season, we provide supplemental feeding to ensure our cattle’s well being and health.

Seasonal forages include: Bahai grass, Millett, Rye Grass, Oats, and other native forages . Our pastures are nestled along Holmes Creek, making our soils rich in organic matter and prime for production of their feeds for our herds.

Animal Welfare

For generations, our families have cared for cattle. Everyone of our herds is managed in a way that each animal can thrive in a natural environment. They have shade, grass/forage, sunshine, and clean fresh water at all times. We handle our cattle off of horseback. This ensures they are never asked to travel faster than they want and reduces their stress. When cattle are handled, they are done calmly and respectably. Our cattle health is our priority. Each animal is given an individual ID at birth. This allows us to track their daily health, needs, and welfare to ensure each animal has precisely what they need to live a quality life.
